Projects are grouped into two categories:
Research and Development
These are essentially projects and studies aimed at developing/adapting more or less finalized methods, algorithms and/or tools related to the processing or synthesis of visual data for theoretical or applied purposes. There are, for example, studies:
- On the characterization of the transparency of the tree crown or root systems development,
- On the identification of objects or structures organized in optical image acquisitions or point clouds
- On the development of classification methods for remote sensing
- On the development of multiresoltion Level od Detail plant models for efficient virtual natural scene rendering
- …
Exploratory
This is the group’s « technology watch » activity. It includes studies aimed at assessing the interest and limitations of new data acquisition sensors or new visual data processing/synthesis methods related to the Group’s Research and Development activities.
- on near infrared sensors and plant spectral characterization, dynamic LIDAR acquisition platforms,
- on the implementation and use of neural networks for automatic field counting or visual data flow mapping for remote sensing
- on the potential of Serious Games for teaching plant architecture,
- …
